history of transtech systems

1994 -

TransTech Systems (TTS) is founded as an identification card printing systems integrator. The new dye-sublimation printers came out for printing directly to plastic. The days of cut, paste, and laminate IDs were over and these new systems required a much higher level of IT skills integration skills. What once was an instant camera, a dye cutter, and a laminator, became a PC, photo processing and card design software, a data base, and a sophisticated thermal plastic printer.

1996 -

Multiple plastic card printer manufactures entered the market, but at the time the average systems integrator had yet to acquire the computer integration skills necessary to implement these new digital systems. TTS soon found itself appointed as a Value Added Distributor with a charter to educate and train resellers and to begin to build an ID card systems reseller channel.

1998 -

TransTech continues to lead innovation in the ID card systems channel by developing a partnership known as PRO ID. This partnership was a group of systems integrators strategically chosen for their regional territory that combined resources to create a national advertising and marketing campaign.

2002 -

TransTech took the step of forming a partnership with a software developer. EZIDentification, LLC was created to jointly produce a very simple card design and production software product called EasyBadge which had both a desktop and online versions.




2007 -

An industry that had been growing significantly in recent years was the self service industry. “Kiosks” were being built for a multitude of applications from grocery checkout to pre-paid phone cards. TTS became a strong partner for kiosk integrators requiring card printers for instant issuance.

2009 -

TTS product lines had grown to include identification products for all types of applications including contactless radio frequency (RF) technologies such as Low Frequency (LF), High Frequency (HF) and contact technologies like chip cards. Ultra High Frequency or UHF tags had recently showed up in amusement industry applications, so TransTech began sourcing cards with this technology as well. They also began to incorporate UHF readers/encoders into ID card printers.

2010 -

TransTech Systems is purchased by a technology company with intellectual property in the identification space using light for article ID and authentication. TTS became a wholly owned subsidiary of a publicly traded company named Visualant.

2012 -

TransTech acquires distribution contracts with various UHF equipment manufacturers and begins to offer readers, antennas, RF cards, tags, and labels, to both the traditional ID space and to the UHF markets.

2015 -

UHF becomes the fastest growing segment over all TTS product lines so TransTech commits full time sales, support and customer service resources to these product lines.
